The Beginning of The Rana Legacy
The first rays of the morning sun gently slipped through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the magnificent Rana Mansion, casting a golden glow over the marble floors. The mansion stood as a symbol of power, wealth, and legacy, where every wall carried stories of generations that had built the Rana name with pride.
Inside the temple of the mansion, the fragrance of fresh flowers and burning incense filled the air. The rhythmic sound of temple bells echoed peacefully as the entire Rana family stood before the idols with folded hands.
At the front stood Rajveer Singh Rana, the head of the family, beside his wife Rajeshwari Devi Rana, whose faith never failed her. Beside them were their two sons, Mahendra Singh Rana and Vikram Singh Rana, along with their wives Nandini Mahendra Rana and Meera Vikram Rana.
Standing quietly behind them were the three grandsons—Rudra Rana, dressed in a crisp black shirt with an unreadable expression; Advik Rana, equally composed, his face as emotionless as ever while his four-year-old son Ayaan Rana stood beside him with folded hands, trying his best to imitate the elders; and the youngest, Armaan Rana, whose lips twitched into a mischievous smile every now and then.
The atmosphere was calm...Peaceful...Sacred...Until...
"Armaannnn! Give it back!"
The sudden roar shattered the silence of the mansion. The next second, Armaan sprinted out of the staircase laughing at the top of his lungs, clutching Rudra's phone in his hand.
"Catch me if you can!"
Right behind him came Rudra, his jaw clenched and eyes blazing.
"I'll break every bone in your body today!"
"You have to catch me first!"
Armaan jumped over the sofa while Rudra chased him around the living room. Everyone simply watched the daily drama unfold.
Rajveer sighed. Meera covered her smile. Nandini shook her head in embarrassment.
Meanwhile...
Advik remained seated on the sofa, crossing one leg over the other, silently observing the chaos as if it had absolutely nothing to do with him. Ayaan, however, couldn't stop giggling.
"Dadu... Papa isn't stopping them!" he laughed, pointing towards his father.
Advik merely looked at his son before shifting his gaze back to the two grown men behaving like children. Armaan hid behind Rajeshwari.
"Dadi! Save me!"
Rudra stopped in front of her.
"Move, Dadi."
"No."
"Dadi..."
"No."
Armaan proudly peeked from behind her.
"You can't touch me."
Rudra glared.
"You think she'll protect you forever?"
Before another word could be exchanged...
"RUDRA! ARMAAN!"
Mahendra's thunderous voice echoed throughout the mansion.
Silence.
Both brothers immediately froze. Armaan slowly stepped away from behind Rajeshwari. Rudra straightened his shirt. Within seconds, both of them stood side by side like disciplined schoolboys.
"Good morning, Dad," they said together.
Mahendra folded his arms.
"So... finished?"
Neither replied.
"What is this every single morning? You're thirty and twenty-seven, not five and six!"
Armaan scratched the back of his neck.
"It wasn't my fault..."
Mahendra shot him a glare.
"I don't want explanations."
He looked at both of them sternly.
"One day Ayaan will start copying both of you."
As if on cue...
Little Ayaan burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Hahaha... Chachu got scolded... Papa, look!"
The elders couldn't help but smile. Advik finally stood up from the sofa.
Without saying a word, he walked towards Ayaan, effortlessly lifted him into his arms and settled the little boy on his hip.
Ayaan immediately wrapped his tiny arms around his father's neck. Advik simply nodded respectfully towards Mahendra before walking towards the dining hall.
The matter ended there. Like it always did.
A few minutes later...
The entire Rana family gathered around the grand dining table. Servants placed breakfast before everyone. Conversations resumed. Laughter returned.
Everything felt normal...Until Rajeshwari calmly placed her cup of tea down.
"I've fixed a meeting for tomorrow."
Everyone looked towards her. She smiled lovingly at Rudra.
"The girl's family will be coming tomorrow to meet you."
The spoon in Rudra's hand stopped moving. The cheerful atmosphere disappeared in an instant.
Without looking at anyone, he calmly placed his napkin beside his plate and stood up.
"I've already said this before. I have no interest in marriage."
His voice remained cold. He picked up his car keys.
"And my decision won't change."
Without waiting for anyone's response... Rudra walked away. The hall fell silent.
After a few seconds... Armaan innocently looked at his grandmother.
"Dadi... even the Chief Minister can't change Bhai's decisions."
He dramatically sighed.
"I think the future Bhabhi should bring an arrest warrant instead of flowers."
Ayaan clapped excitedly.
"Yes! Police will catch Bade Papa!"
Everyone laughed except Rajeshwari. She narrowed her eyes.
"If any one of my grandsons argues with me again..."
She paused deliberately.
"...I'll get all three of you married together."
Armaan's smile vanished instantly.
"...What?"
Rajeshwari looked towards Advik.
"And you too."
Advik, who had been peacefully feeding Ayaan, slowly raised his eyes.
"..."
Then she looked back at Armaan.
"And tomorrow's meeting is fixed."
"No excuses. No arguments. No running away."
Armaan immediately sat straight.
"Ji, Dadi."
Advik silently continued eating.
"Ji, Dadi."
Rajeshwari smiled in satisfaction. Only one person was missing from the table...
The eldest Rana.
Who had already walked away, completely unaware that fate had quietly begun writing the first page of The Rana Legacy.
Unlike the disciplined and influential Rana Mansion, another part of the city carried a completely different warmth.
The Mehra Residence wasn't surrounded by political security or luxury cars. Instead, it was filled with laughter, creativity, and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed tea.
Near the large French window, where the morning sunlight beautifully lit up the room, Anika Mehra sat cross-legged on the floor with her sketchbook resting on her lap. Her fingers moved effortlessly across the page as she designed another bridal couture. The world around her had long disappeared.
For Anika...There was only colours. Only dreams. Only fashion.
On the sofa behind her, Raghav Mehra and Kavya Mehra sat comfortably, completely engrossed in the morning news.
"...Chief Minister Rudra Rana once again inaugurated another development project today. At just thirty years of age, he continues to be the youngest and one of the most influential Chief Ministers in the state. Alongside his political career, he also owns the renowned Rana Group. However, despite his remarkable achievements, CM Rudra Rana is equally famous for his strict personality and mysterious private life..."
The news anchor continued praising him. Anika looked up from her sketchbook.
"Mumma..."
No response. She continued sketching.
"Mumma... water."
Still nothing. Both her parents remained glued to the television. She sighed dramatically before raising her voice.
"MUMMAAA!"
Both Raghav and Kavya jumped in surprise.
"Haan? What happened?"
Anika pouted.
"I've been asking for water for the last five minutes."
Kavya rolled her eyes.
"Drama queen."
She walked towards the kitchen. Meanwhile, Raghav smiled at his daughter.
"So..."
He looked at the television.
"Which political party do you support?"
Anika didn't even lift her head from the sketchbook.
"None."
"What about our young Chief Minister?"
She immediately made a face.
"I don't like him either."
Raghav chuckled
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"Why?"
"I don't like politicians."
She shrugged.
"And that CM looks too serious. He never smiles."
Just then, Kavya returned with a glass of water and handed it to her.
"Leave politics."
She smiled knowingly.
"Your grandparents are coming today."
Anika's eyes immediately sparkled.
"Really?"
She quickly placed her sketchbook aside.
"When?, What time?, Are Dadu and Dadi coming together, What are they bringing?"
Raghav laughed at her excitement.
"They'll reach by evening."
Anika smiled brightly.
"I missed them so much."
Kavya exchanged a glance with her husband before teasing her casually,
"They're coming to fix your marriage."
The smile disappeared from Anika's face.
"...What?"
She stared at both of them.
"No."
Kavya laughed.
"Why not?"
"I don't want to get married."
Raghav raised an eyebrow.
"And why is that?"
Anika folded her arms.
"Firstly..."
She pointed towards herself.
"I'm only twenty-five. I'm still young. Maybe not for the world....but definitely for myself."
Both her parents laughed.
"And secondly..."
She narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"If Dadu chooses someone for me... I'm definitely saying no."
Raghav almost choked on his tea.
"What has your poor grandfather done now?"
She huffed.
"Because I know him. He'll find someone who's at least five or six years older than me. I don't want an uncle as my husband."
Both Raghav and Kavya burst into laughter.
"So then..."
Raghav asked while sipping his tea,
"What exactly do you want in your future husband?"
Anika rested her chin on her palm and smiled dreamily.
"I want someone....who loves me without conditions....who respects me...supports my passion...cares for me...understands me...someone mature...handsome...around my age."
She smiled shyly.
"And most importantly...He should be complete husband material."
Her parents exchanged an amused glance.
"That's quite a long list."
"It should be."
Anika proudly replied.
"I'm going to spend my whole life with him."
Before anyone could continue...Her phone rang. She glanced at the screen.
"My assistant?"
The moment she answered the call, her expression changed.
"What? I'm coming."
She immediately stood up, grabbed her handbag, sketchbook, and scooter keys in one swift motion.
"I'm leaving!"
She hurried towards the entrance while still talking on the phone.
"Handle the client for five minutes. I'll be there."
Raghav laughed.
"Slow down!"
But Anika was already halfway outside. She wore her helmet while waving towards them.
"Bye, Mumma! Bye, Papa!"
Kavya rushed behind her.
"At least have your breakfast!"
However...Before the words could reach her. The sound of her scooter echoed through the street as she had already disappeared. Kavya sighed helplessly.
"One day this girl will forget herself somewhere."
Raghav smiled while looking at the now-empty doorway.
"Our daughter may grow older..."
"...but who's going to convince her that she's no longer a child?"
Both of them looked at each other...
...and laughed, completely unaware that destiny had already begun weaving Anika Mehra's name into the Rana Legacy.
Miles away from the cheerful Mehra residence...
The atmosphere inside City Care Multispeciality Hospital was completely different.
The bright white lights of the operation theatre reflected against the spotless floor. Doctors and nurses moved quickly, their expressions tense as the sound of the heart monitor echoed throughout the room.
On the operation table lay a young man suffering from a critical neurological disorder. His condition had already reached the last stage, making the surgery one of the most complicated procedures the hospital had ever handled.
Every doctor present knew one thing...
A single mistake could cost the patient's life.
Standing at the centre of the operation theatre was Dr. Saanvi Sharma, one of the youngest and most brilliant neurosurgeons in the country.
At just twenty-six years old, she had earned a reputation that many senior doctors spent decades trying to achieve.
Her eyes remained fixed on the surgical field. Calm. Focused. Steady.
Not even once did her hands tremble.
"Scalpel."
A nurse immediately placed it in her hand.
"Suction."
Another instrument was handed to her before she even looked up. The entire operation theatre followed her instructions without question.
Senior surgeons stood silently beside her, carefully observing every movement she made.
One of them whispered softly,
"Her precision is unbelievable."
Another nodded.
"It's hard to believe she's only twenty-six."
"Every movement is perfect."
Even the nurses exchanged nervous glances. Whenever Dr. Saanvi entered an operation theatre, everyone felt both relieved and intimidated.
Relieved...
Because they knew the patient was in the safest hands.
Intimidated...
Because no one could match her perfection. She wasn't just another doctor.
For countless families...
She was hope. She was the reason impossible cases still had a chance.
Four and a half hours later...
The red light outside the operation theatre finally switched off. The doors slowly opened.
Dr. Saanvi walked out first, removing her surgical cap as a nurse followed closely behind, holding the patient's medical file and discussing the post-operative medications.
Before they could take another step, the patient's parents hurried towards her. Their faces were pale with fear.
"Doctor..."
The patient's father spoke with trembling hands.
"Our son..."
"Is he... okay?"
Saanvi gently removed her mask and surgical gloves before looking at them.
A warm smile appeared on her face.
"The surgery was successful."
Both parents stared at her, unable to believe what they had heard.
She continued softly,
"Your son is completely out of danger now. He's still under the effect of anesthesia, so he'll remain unconscious for about an hour. You can meet him once he's shifted to his room."
The couple's eyes instantly filled with tears.
"Thank you, Doctor."
"You gave our son a second life."
Saanvi simply smiled and folded her hands politely.
"I only did my duty."
With that, she nodded to the nurse.
"Shift him to the ICU for observation. Monitor his vitals continuously and inform me immediately if there's any change."
"Yes, Doctor."
Without another word, Dr. Saanvi Sharma walked down the long hospital corridor towards her cabin, while doctors, nurses, and interns respectfully stepped aside, silently watching the woman who had once again performed what many believed was nothing short of a miracle.
On the other side of the city...
The weather had painted the afternoon into something magical.
Dark grey clouds floated lazily across the sky while a cool breeze carried the pleasant fragrance of wet soil. Tiny droplets of rain occasionally kissed the glass windows, making the atmosphere feel calm and refreshing.
Nestled in the middle of the city was Canvas & Coffee Café, a place loved by artists, dreamers, and coffee lovers alike. People didn't just visit for coffee—they came here to paint their imaginations onto blank canvases.
The soft melody of a piano played in the background. Laughter echoed from different corners. Brushes danced over canvases.
Among everyone sat Avni Kapoor.
A steaming cup of cappuccino rested beside her while her fingers gracefully moved the paintbrush across the canvas. A few loose strands of her hair kept falling over her face, but she paid no attention.
She was completely lost...In her colours. In her imagination. In her own little world.
Across the table, her two best friends quietly watched her.
Finally, one of them spoke.
"Avni..."
She hummed without looking up.
"Hmm?"
"Don't you ever get bored of painting?"
Still mixing colours, Avni smiled faintly. Before she could answer, her other friend laughed.
"Seriously?"
She looked at the first girl.
"You're asking this from the same Avni Kapoor who won the Gold Medal in her final year because of her artwork?"
"The girl whose paintings are displayed in exhibitions?"
"The artist who can spend an entire day with a canvas and still call it the best day of her life?"
Avni finally placed her brush down. She wiped the paint from her fingers with a tissue before turning completely towards them.
A small laugh escaped her lips.
"It's nothing that great. I just love painting."
Her first friend smiled knowingly.
"And painting loves you back."
The three of them laughed.
After a moment, another friend leaned forward.
"By the way..."
"You're already twenty-five."
"When are you planning to find someone who'll love you, spoil you, and give you his time?"
Before Avni could answer, the other girl dramatically gasped.
"She doesn't need to find anyone."
"She already has someone."
Avni frowned.
"...Who?"
Both of them exchanged mischievous looks before saying together,
"The great athlete... Armaan Rana!"
The smile on Avni's face disappeared instantly.
"Chiii!"
She made the most disgusted expression possible.
"Him?"
"I'd rather fall in love with the biggest nerd on this planet than that... chachunder!"
Her friends burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Come on!, He's handsome. National badminton champion. Successful. Intelligent. And have you seen those muscles?"
Avni immediately raised her hand to stop them.
"Enough! I don't care if he's the most handsome man in the country."
"That arrogant man is impossible. If he's the last man on Earth..."
She folded her arms.
"...I'd still choose to stay single."
Her friends laughed even harder.
Just then...
Avni glanced at the time on her wristwatch.
"Oh no!"
She immediately stood up, hurriedly putting her brushes back into her bag.
"I'm late!"
Both her friends looked at her.
"Already?"
She nodded while slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"I have somewhere important to be. I'll see you both tomorrow."
Without waiting for another question, she quickly picked up her coffee, waved at them with a bright smile, and hurried out of the café.
Her friends watched her leave before one of them chuckled.
"You know... One day she's definitely going to end up with Armaan Rana."
The other laughed.
"And on that day...We're reminding her she called him chachunder."
The two girls burst into laughter...
Completely unaware that destiny had already begun writing the first chapter of Armaan Rana and Avni Kapoor's story.
